Description

Photographic portrait of Ian M. Burr. Dr. Burr received his B.S. and M.D. degrees from Melbourne University in Australia in 1959. He received his Ph.D. from Monash University in 1969. While working on his Ph.D., he spent two years conducting research in San Francisco. Following this experience, Burr also spent two years at the University of Geneva (Switzerland). He came to Vanderbilt as an associate professor of pediatrics in 1971. From 1986 to 1988, Burr was the chairman of pediatrics at the University of Florida. He returned to Vanderbilt as chairman and professor of the Department of Pediatrics and the Medical Director of the Children's Hospital in 1988.
