Photographic portrait of Frank Raymond Blood. Dr. Frank Blood, one of the nation's most distinguished biochemists, received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering from the University of Denver in 1934 and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in biological chemistry in 1940. Upon graduation, Blood served as the chief biochemist at Haskell Laboratory of Industrial Toxicology in Delaware and as a professor of chemistry at the University of Denver. He came to Nashville in 1950 to serve as a professor of biochemistry. He became director of the Toxicology Center and the Vanderbilt Hospital laboratories in 1960. Dr.Blood has served on numerous national committees and authored several publications regarding toxicology and related subjects.
