Photographic portrait of Joseph Hunter Allen, Jr. Dr. Allen was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, and graduated from Washington University School of Medicine in 1948. After a number of internships and residencies, Dr. Allen worked as an instructor and assistant professor of Radiology at Vanderbilt University until 1963, after which he begin a special fellowship in Neuroradiology at Columbia University in New York. He returned to Vanderbilt in 1965 as an Associate Professor of Radiology and Professor of Radiology.
