Description

Sarah H. Sell (1913-2012) was a pediatrician, author, and professor. She is an authority on immunization and is a researcher on infectious diseases of children. Dr. Sell devoted much of her professional career to the development of a vaccine to protect children against Haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib). Her initiatives led to the licensure of several conjugating Hib vaccines in the late 1980's and early 1990's. These vaccines have been so effective that they have virtually eliminated this devastating disease in young children in the United States. Dr. Sell donated her personal papers to the Eskind Library and this collection is open to researchers.
